Pleading InCAAnity…Clip This Info Version…

Thanks to an intelligent and erstwhile friend, we give you another reason to love Bruiser. His quote last night:

“It’s not about coaching [now]. It’s about, ‘Yo, man, who is ready to play?’ It’s the end of the season. I don’t have any more speeches.”

Here we go, and if you are so inclined, please check my math. This is tough for even a number geek like me. I think this covers it but I will check my own work later, after I close my eyes and pop open a Stella or four:

VCU 13-4: Ga State

Nor’easter 12-5: ODU

Mason 12-5: Towson

Old Dominion 11-6: @Nor’easter

Drexel 10-7: @W&M

Hofstra 10-7: UNCW

JMU 9-8: @Delaware

Georgia State 8-9: @VCU

Towson 5-12: @Mason

Delaware 5-12: JMU

William & Mary 4-13: Drexel

UNCW 3-14: @Hofstra

Seed Things:

VCU has clinched either the #1 or #2 seed. A VCU win or NU loss give VCU the #1 seed.

Nor’easter is guaranteed the #2 seed if it defeats ODU on Saturday, the #1 seed if it wins and VCU loses. If NU loses to ODU and GMU wins, Mason is the #2 seed, and NU is the #3 seed with ODU as the #4 seed. (NU/ODU split but NU 1-0 vs. VCU and ODU 1-1 vs. VCU)

If NU loses to ODU and Mason loses, the Huskies are the #2 seed, ODU the #3 seed, and Mason the #4 seed. (Three-way ODU/NU/GMU records are NU 2-1, ODU 2-2, GMU 1-2)

If NU wins, Mason can only be the #3 seed no matter what else happens. Mason is the #2 seed if it wins and NU loses. If NU loses and Mason loses, see above graf (NU #2, ODU #3, GMU #4).

If ODU wins, see above scenarios. Briefly–a GMU win and ODU is the #4 seed. A GMU loss and ODU is the #3 seed.

If ODU loses, go get a glass of water. Ready?

If ODU loses and finishes in a two-way tie with Drexel (DU beats the Tribe and HU loses to UNCW), then ODU is the #4 seed and Drexel is the #5 seed, based on ODU 1-0 H2H against Drexel. HU is the #6 seed.

If ODU loses and finishes in a two-way tie with Hofstra (HU beats UNCW and DU loses to NU), then Hofstra is the #4 seed and ODU the #5 seed based on HOF 1-0 vs. ODU H2H. Drexel is the #6 seed.

If ODU loses and both Hofstra and Drexel win, setting up a three-way tie, then Drexel is the #4 seed, ODU the #5 seed, and HU the #6 seed based on three-way records (DU 2-1, ODU 1-1, HU 1-2).

If Drexel and Hofstra are tied, then Drexel gets the #5 seed and HU the #6 seed based on Drexel 2-0 H2H vs. HOF.

If Hofstra and JMU finished tied, then Hofstra gets the higher seed based on 2-0 vs. JMU. If Drexel and JMU finish tied, then JMU gets the  higher seed based on 1-0 vs. Drexel H2H.

If JMU, HOF, and DREX finish in a three way tie, then order is: Drexel is fifth (2-1), Hofstra is sixth (2-2) and JMU is seventh (1-2).

If Ga State and JMU finish tied, the higher seed goes to JMU based on 1-0 vs. GSU.

If Delaware and Towson finish tied, Towson gets teh higher seed based on 2-0 vs. DEL.

If Towson and The College finish tied, W&M gets the higher seed based on 1-1 vs. each other and W&M victory over NU.

If DEL and W&M finish tied, DEL gets the higher seed based on 1-0 vs. W&M.

If DEL, W&M, and TOW finish in a three-way tie, then the order: TOW (3-1), DEL (1-2 and 1-0 vs. W&M), W&M (1-2).

UNCW has clinched the #12 seed. Even if the Hawks finish tied with The College, W&M was 2-0 vs. UNCW.

  1. Damn Hofstra losing to Georgia State…

  2. Those scenarios hurt my head. So, Mason can fall not further than #4 and is guaranteed a first-round bye? Correct?

They need to get the job done vs. Towson, though. Senior Night. Chance for 14-0 at home. Get it done.

  3. Are you sure about this: “Three-way ODU/NU/GMU records are NU 2-1, ODU 2-2, GMU 1-2”

Mason was 1-1 vs. Northeastern, and 1-1 vs. ODU. So, how does ODU get the 3rd slot?
