Very Busy Chattering Monday…

Some chatter from the headmen, and for the record they are beginning to tighten up. It is February, after all.

But here’s the thing: every single on of their tired, old, worn out, cliches are coming true. We laugh at them for the “no surprises” and “one game at a times” but I’ve officially reached the point of being surprised by nothing. Nothing.

That means we’re going to have fun this month. Coaches will hate it, but we will love it.

And the CAA tournament? You’re an idiot if you don’t make the effort to get there. It is going to be tons of fun.

Blaine Taylor

On Gerald Lee’s surge: “As our team got better and played with more confidence, his job became easier.”

On Frank Hassell coming around: “There’s not a guy on our team that hasn’t had ups and downs.”

Bill Coen

On what he saw in Matt Janning. They keep eight offensive statistical categories in the state of Minnesota, and Janning was in the top five in seven of them. This despite tipping the scales at 155 pounds.

Tom Pecora

On his team’s stretches of great play and poor play: “I’m going to patent the term bi-polar basketball.”

On Jenkins getting a technical that led to picking up his fourth foul with 12 minutes to play: “I think the double technical is the ultimate cop out.”

Tony Shaver

On VCU: “They were as focused and as intense as I’ve ever seen them. Their defensive intensity for 40 minutes was as good as I’ve seen them.”

  1. Nothing from Coach L.? I’d like to know why my alma mater keeps losing close, important games to the better CAA teams on the road? It’s getting tiresome…(well, it already is.)

  2. The double T is the ultimate cop out. Any time I see that or a “double foul”, I’m all over the zebras.

The only thing worse in sports is the offsetting minor in hockey.

    Tommy P is right.

  3. Shawn–real life invaded and I was unable to listen to anyone past Matt Brady’s opening remarks.

NUHF–could not agree more. The only reason they do that, I imagine, is because a second tech gets you tossed and suspended. So you are more apt to tone it down if there is a penalty behind it. But it drives me crazy because they saw something but called two things.

  4. Here’s the link to all of the coaches:
