Blaine Taylor is Smiling Today…

His team gave him a complete effort in an 86-60 drubbing of Duquesne. Nor’easter fans are smiling with him. (Any enemy of Everhart is a friend of mine, the chant goes…)

All the Monarchs did:

  • Shot 57%
  • Scored 1.32 points per possession
  • Plus 8 in the rebounding column
  • Put five players in double figures
  • Only committed 8 turnovers

(Side note: Hey Ken Pomeroy, surely there’s a formula for turnover and rebounding differential?)

Look, we all know Duquesne isn’t exactly Duke. Taylor knows the pitfalls. But that’s the performance, on the road, the coach has been looking for. It’s when effort and focus produce results. That’s how confidence builds–sorely needed on this squad.

ODU has Winthrop, Maryland-Eastern Shore, and Winston Salem State left in noncon before heading to the road for three-of-four conference tilts in the New Year.

It’s called building.

Will the first team All CAA squad be comprised of five guards? Top of my head, in order that they came to my brain, here’s 19. This means I may have missed someone:

Eric Maynor
Charles Jenkins
Joe Dukes
Chad Tomko
Matt Janning
Chase Allen
Brian Johnson
Marc Egerson
David Schnieder
Jawan Carter
Alphonso Dawson
Johnny Wolf
Trae Goldston
Darius James
Cam Long
Jon Vaughan

Joey Rodriguez
Troy Franklin
