Home teams captured 10 of the 12 conference games played last week and are now 21-9 (.700) for the season. George Mason is a perfect 8-0 at home this season, while VCU is 7-0 and James Madison is 6-0. 

YouDee is on a four-game win streak for the first time since 2003.

Mason’s Dre Smith is 21-of-39 (.538) from beyond the arc over his past six contests. Freshman guard Cam Long made his first two career starts last week and scored 12 of Mason’s first 21 points in the win over Nor’Easter.

CAA MEN’S BASKETBALL PLAYER OF THE WEEK

Herb Courtney, Delaware

Sr., F, 6-7, 200, Horsham, Pa./Hatboro-Horsham

Courtney averaged 23.0 points and 8.0 rebounds as Delaware improved to 5-0 in the CAA with a pair of overtime victories. The senior forward posted his first double-double of the year with 27 points and 11 rebounds in an 81-74 double-overtime win against Old Dominion, including a pair of game-tying treys in the first extra session. He also had 19 points, five boards and three blocks in a 73-68 overtime triumph against George Mason.

CAA MEN’S BASKETBALL Co-ROOKIE OF THE WEEK

Darius James, Old Dominion

Fr., G, 6-1, 165, Virginia Beach, Va./Tallwood

James averaged 12.0 points, 3.5 rebounds and 3.5 assists as Old Dominion split a pair of road games last week. The freshman guard poured in 15 points on 4-of-6 FG shooting and dished out five assists in a 71-59 victory at Towson, and contributed nine points in a double-overtime loss at Delaware. In five CAA games, James is averaging 10.2 ppg.

CAA MEN’S BASKETBALL Co-ROOKIE OF THE WEEK

Cam Long, George Mason

Fr., G, 6-4, 177, Palm Bay, Fla./Freedom (Va.)

Long made the first two starts of his collegiate career and contributed 9.0 points and 2.0 assists per game while making 8-of-9 shots (88.9%) from the floor as George Mason split a pair of games. The freshman scored 12 of the Patriots’ first 21 points in an 80-52 triumph over Northeastern and had six points on 3-of-3 shooting in 22 minutes in an overtime loss at Delaware.
