From the Home Office in Richmond, VA…

Proving once again I need to keep predictions to a minimum…

Co-POW are Frank Elegar and Lennie Mendez. Elegar had two double-doubles and averaged 27 points and 14 rebounds. Mendez averaged 20 points and shot 57% from the floor. Importantly, Mendez was 1-1 from the field on 14-footers at the buzzer.

Saving some ego, Delaware’s Alphonso Dawson was named NOW. Dawson averaged 16.5 points and 6.5 rebounds in leading the Hens to two victories last week.

Other interesting tidbits include:

  • The CAA is the only conference in the country in which every league team has won a conference game. Ten of the 12 teams went 1-1 last week. (YouDee 2-0 and the dub 0-2.)
  • There have been 18 conference games to date. Ten of them have been decided by seven points or less.
  • Odd: the CAA was 38-13 (75%) at home in nonconference play, yet home teams are just 11-7 so far in conference play (61%).
  • Da’Commish has upheld Benny Moss’ one-game suspension for getting the heave-ho after two technical fouls. More on this later, but I agree. It’s a rule and all.
  • Lost in the Henmania was Brian Johnson’s 11 assist, zero turnover performance against Drexel.
  • Mason’s John Vaughan averaged 18.5 points for the week and has scored in double figures in the past six games. There’s some help for Will Thomas.
  • It’s not like Manny Adako stunk up the joint. He averaged 23.0 points last week and was 20-27 from the field.

One Response to “From the Home Office in Richmond, VA…”

  1. And I actually thought Thomas was going to get help from Campbell this season…

But, heck – I’ll take the way that Vaughan has been playing for Mason. He had a rough sophomore campaign last year coming back from injury, so it’s great to see his scoring ability return. In addition, he’s been a valuable leader on the court. He made some great plays at the end of the Towson game when the team needed it the most.

Again…I thought that was going to be Campbell’s role…but, I’ll take it from Vaughan, who still has another year to even get better after this one.

    GO MASON.
