From the Home Office in Richmond, VA…

Mason Adds To Unique Winning Streak: George Mason improved to 9-3 this season with a 72-64 victory over Liberty on Sunday. The victory gave the Patriots a 3-2 mark in December, which added to an impressive streak. Since November, 2002, Mason has had at least a .500 record in every month except one (February 2007) in which they have played more than one game. The streak covers a span of 25 months

CAA In Non-Conference Play:  The CAA has posted a 61-65 (.484) record in non-conference action through the first month of the season. The league has combined for an impressive 38-13 mark at home and is a solid 9-8 on neutral courts, but is 14-44 on the road. Twenty-two losses have come against squads from the ACC, Big East, Big Ten and SEC and nine were against teams in the Top 25.

Matt Janning, Northeastern

So., G, 6-4, 175, Watertown, Minn./Watertown-Mayer

Janning poured in a team-high 26 points and made a season-best three steals in Northeastern’s setback at Big East foe Syracuse last Sunday. The sophomore guard netted 15 points in the first half as the Huskies trailed by just two at the break and finished 8-of-17 from the floor and 4-of-9 from 3-point range. Janning has scored 20 or more points four times this season, with the efforts coming in road games at Maryland, Rhode Island, Connecticut and Syracuse. He’s averaging 17.3 ppg for the season.

Charles Jenkins, Hofstra

Fr., G, 6-3, 220, Queens, N.Y./Springfield Gardens

Jenkins averaged 17.0 points and 3.5 assists in Hofstra’s two games in the Aeropostale Holiday Festival last week. With top scorer Antoine Agudio out, Jenkins scored a career-high 21 points against Marist and had a team-best 13 points versus Virginia Tech. Jenkins, who also pulled down 4.5 rebounds per game, extended his double-figure scoring streak to nine games. He is averaging 13.3 ppg for the season.

  1. Ugh, 14-44 noncon on the road. Only VCU and Mason cracking the top 100 in RPI. ODU is a better team than their RPI shows, but it could be a tough year come selection Sunday.
