The Good, The Bad, and The Ugly…The Day Late Edition (Part 2)

Full slate tomorrow, highlighted by the CAAs version of Hatton/Mayweather 2. The dub plays Coastal Carolina again. And though the Seahawks held Norfolk State to 50% shooting from the foul line, they still haven’t earned a capital D.

Full and mondo importante Saturday slate, too, but first things first:

The Good

Shooting: Agreatio hits a sixfer in the second half of the Pride’s win over Charlotte, but more significantly, the Old Dominion guards finally locate the net’s approximate relationship to the rim. Hot shooting staked ODU to a huge lead over Vatek and the Monarchs hung on.

Exams are over, Christmas is close, and the real conference season is on the horizon.

Hofstra over Charlotte can only be described thusly: good win. Ditto ODU over Virginia Tech.

Youth is served, in a big way. ODU frosh Ben Finney played 30 very good minutes against Tech, and VCU frosh Larry Sanders has a double-double with eight blocks against Longwood. Speaking of that, my choice for the leader of the All Second Half/Freshman Team, Dominique Lacy of The dub, had nine points and five rebounds in a win over Norfolk State. (Note: they don’t really pick that team. I made that up.)

Evan Neisler and comfort. The transfer pulled down 11 rebounds–five on the offensive end–for Drexel in its 64-51 loss to Temple.

The Bad

CAA:LAMM(ity) forces a postponed GBU, and worse, a little JMU preview before its win over Radford.

Exam week and the lack of games. That was no fun.

Good thing for Finney, because Sam Harris looked lost. Completely lost.

I don’t know what to make of Ga State shooting well, holding down the turnovers (for them), and playing at home but needing overtime to beat an underwhelming UTSA team 76-71.

The Ugly

Central Connecticut State drubs Delaware in the Ledgerson Classic. The Hens trailed 50-19 at the half and never closed the margin to less than 22 points.

Drexel finally broke the 50-point barrier, but 51 wasn’t what I had in mind. What’s scarier is that Drexel played horribly in the late stages of the game, something they never do.

I’ve got to keep my mouth shut. Days after I praise The dub’s Chad Tomko he goes out and gets two assists and five turnovers against Norfolk State.

  1. Ahhh…JMU wins another game it should have, which is more than can be said about past seasons. Jalloh looks to be catching on at the right time. This team could go places.

  2. UNCW played North Carolina Central on Sunday, not Norfolk State.
