CAA ISSUES ONE-GAME SUSPENSION TO DREXEL’S ELEGAR

RICHMOND, Va. (January 26, 2007) – CAA Commissioner Tom Yeager has suspended Drexel University men’s basketball player Frank Elegar for one game for unsportsmanlike conduct during the Dragons’ game at the University of Delaware on January 20. Elegar will miss Drexel’s next game with VCU on Saturday.

The incident occurred midway through the second half of last Saturday’s game when Elegar committed a flagrant act against Delaware’s Sam McMahon.

  1. In case people haven’t noticed yet, VCU is kind of a big deal.

  2. And Yeager is trying to keep VCU perfect by helping them out. This happened 2 games ago, and he decides to suspend for THIS game. Good job Yeager, you’re a VCU homer!

  3. First the ODU game looked fixed, and then Drexel gets the best big man in the league removed for the VCU game. The commissioner is trying to protect VCU as long as possible to ensure 2 bids. He is clearly doing this for his and the leagues image, instead of letting the crème rise naturally to the top. VCU is not the crème. The commissioner needs to be removed to allow the CAA to grow to the next level. Nice job to date, but time for new blood. Nice commentary from Ford in the Inquirer. As long as the CAA acts bush-leaguer, that’s the way the CAA will be viewed.
