Revolution

The hand-wringing continues after Mason loses to Bucknell. (Note to naysayers: how many do I have to call before you believe…) But don’t lose hope.

We’re in the middle of a revolution.

Pat Forde had it right. With the sucess fo the Missouri Valley, Western Kentucky, Butler, and Unknown WCC Team, mid major basketball has never had such a national stage.

Last year it was the CAAs turn. This year? Not so much. So stop thinking of RPIs in the teens and nonconference victories over heavyweights a birthright. Let the Missouri Valley carry the torch for a little bit. They deserve it. Keep in mind, too, that in late December last year, with ODU floundering, nobody was talking at large bid for the CAA. It looks grim, but let’s all put it into perspective.

What’s more, it could all change tomorrow. Mason has its chance at sweet redemption. (Side note: I can see the motto now…”Find a Tobacco Road team that can beat us!”) Drexel gets a shot at Villanova. The Dub can start taking back the mid major King mantle by defeating Missouri State.

Tomorrow is important. Very important.

But it’s not the end of the world.
