Comfortably Numb

Usually I try to clear things up. Other times I let words and statistics rest on their own merits.

Today, I am deliberately trying to confuse you.

Quick Quiz:

1. Hofstra beats VCU. Hofstra beats Mason. ODU beats Northeastern. ODU beats UNCW. ODU beats Hofstra for hte auto bid. Who gets the at large? (Hint: in this scenario Hofstra will have swept GMU, both games since Feb. 23.)

2. Mason beats Hofstra. ODU beats UNCW. Mason beats ODU. Who gets the at large? (Hint: ODU will have swept UNCW.)

3. Mason beats Hofstra. ODU beats UNCW. ODU beats Mason. Who gets the at large?

4. Hofstra beats Mason. UNCW beats ODU. Hofstra beats UNCW. Ahem…

I could keep going, probably until the Friday noon tipoff, but you get the point…

  1. Not sure if this was meant to be rhetorical, but this is my opinion.

    1.Hofstra
    2.Hofstra
    3.Mason
    4.UNCW

  2. I should probably qualify those answers.

    1. Hofstra – They beat Mason twice and made it to the finals, that should be enough.
    2. Hofstra – They split with Mason, swept ODU who swept UNCW, Hofstra still seems the best choice.
    3. Mason – Making it to the finals just adds to their already great credentials.
    4. I’m beginning to think I made a mistake on this one. I say this is the best shot at 3 bids: Hofstra(auto), UNCW, and Mason.

  3. And you can see why one at-large while an improvement will still be breaking a lot of hearts

  4. ODU cannot be an at large, Hofstra need to make the finals, UNCW needs to win the whole ting, Mason is in good at large shape.
