New York State of Mind

Live from the Long Island Marriott in Uniondale, NY, where the view from my window includes preparations to the Nassau County Coliseum for tonight’s NY Rangers/NY Iclanders match (Potvin Sucks!)…I present…

The Slate
Drexel at The Dub: Battle of the battlers. Remember when Dick Vitale said if Drexel was the seventh best team in the conference, he wanted to see the other six? He could tune in tonight and see one of them. The over/under on Friday morning bruises is 11.5. The Dub wins at home, 14-9.

Georgia St at James Madison: The Dukes break the streak! Unfortunately, it’s the “losing by 15 or more points” streak. The losing streak continues as there is actually a meaningless road win on hte books. Panthers 73, Dukes 64.

Old Dominion at Hofstra: You want interesting? Guard depleted ODU travels to guard heavy Hofstra. Abdi Lidonde fans take note. This could be the game you’ve been looking for. Also look for ODU to pound the ball inside against paint shy Pride. If ODU can pull this out, it is an accomplishment beyond compare in the CAA regular season. The last minute determines the winner. I want to call it a tie. Hofstra 68, ODU 66.

William & Mary at Nor’Eastr: If the Huskies were still in the AE, they would run away with the league. They aren’t, but they still run away from W&M. Nor’Eastr 82, Tribe 65.

George Mason at Delaware: Anytime you, as a fan in the stands or on your couch, can call out a trap game that means it is not a trap game. One of the GMU guards scores 25. You pick which one. Mason 84, Fightin Nanas 65.

Towson at VCU: A slow start may doom the Rams, even if they are at home. I don’t see it, as VCU has a way of shaking off indifferent play by drilling mediocre teams at home. This is tonight’s Pattern Game: VCU gets up big, lets Towson back into it, and pulls away at the end. VCU 76, Towson 66.

  1. Nice prediction on the ODU/Hofstra matchup. Almost spot on.

  2. wat a game at Hofstra last night…absolute mayhem

  3. did i hear right on the radio that the fans were rushing the floor after the win…shouldn’t Hofstra have been favored at home, when ODU was missing 2 of its top 3 guards…Not to mention shouldn’t Hofstra be used to winning at home by now…

  4. It was a buzzer-beater over the defending conference champs. It was worthy of a floor-rushing. If the outcome had been decided before the buzzer, then I would say no way.

  5. temple university
